Kitec pipes were installed in nearly 300,000 homes in North America from 1995 to 2007, including many condos and homes in Burlington and Oakville. That’s because the pipes were marketed as cheaper than copper, flexible and easy for plumbers to install.

But Kitec pipes deteriorated rapidly and often failed, leading to leaks, floods and damage. They were recalled in 2005, but many are still found in homes and condos today. Replacing them before a disastrous leak will result in lower repair costs and little disruption to your home.
